Courtly characters to meet and greet your guests or a medieval cook or crowd of peasants: we add authenticity to your event and enjoyment for your vistors. How about a Strolling Minstrel in historic costume to add another dimension to your visitors' enjoyment.
Costume Exhibitions bring life into your rooms and show the style of outfits worn there in the past. Amusing Costume Talks bring a deeper understanding of the relationship between past fashions, architecture, art and social history, as well as the pleasure of seeing members of the public trying on unusual costume items. Easy Historical Dancing for the public can be included too.
We offer a Costume-making Service of basic garments for any period, children a speciality. Also Costume-Craft Workshops for older children and adults; then there are wonderful 'Costume Chaos' days where you construct a costume from materials we supply then show off in an organised costume parade (minimal sewing skills required).
Schools visits can be arranged to suit the history syllabus or to cover the historical part of textiles courses. Here students can try on all the layers women wore in the past, learn about boning and ladies underwear through the ages and find out why women wore what they did as technology changed, politics dictated and war delayed developments. Men's costume development is not ignored either.
